Deborah Robertson is a consumer financial services law expert with over 20 years in mortgage lending, manufactured housing, and motor vehicle finance. She has guided corporations on compliance, licensing, governance, risk management, and financing laws, building strong regulatory partnerships. The breadth matters: consumer financial services regulation is one body of law in concept, but the practical regulatory rhythms of mortgage, manufactured housing, and auto finance differ substantially. Practitioners fluent across all three are rare.

Currently, Deborah serves as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Land Home Financial Services, advising executives and ensuring legal compliance. The dual role — combining General Counsel responsibilities with the Chief Compliance Officer function — reflects how LHFS thinks about compliance: not as a defensive cost center but as an embedded function of how decisions get made at the executive level.

She previously was Managing Counsel at Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, where she handled the legal and regulatory dimensions of motor vehicle finance at scale, and a Partner at McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC in Albany, NY — one of the leading consumer financial services law firms in the country. The combination of in-house experience at one of the largest auto finance operations and partner-level expertise at a top consumer-finance law firm produces a particular kind of judgment: knowing which battles to fight on principle, which to settle on terms, and which to avoid by designing the operation differently from the start.

Deborah is active in industry associations, promoting the alignment of business goals with consumer protection. She serves on the Advisory Council for the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR), has co-chaired the ABA’s Consumer Financial Services Committee, and has affiliations with the AFSA-NACCA Planning Committee, the Manufactured Housing Institute, and the American Financial Services Association. The pattern is consistent: showing up where the rules get written, not just where they get enforced.
